Melanie Jayne Lynskey

Melanie Jayne Lynskey, born on the 16th of May, 1977, is a New Zealand actress. She is famous for her quirky, soft-spoken but headstrong characters. She is a major player in independent films. She's won an award from the New Zealand Film Award as well as an Hollywood Film Award as well as the Sundance Special Jury Award. Lynskey made her film debut starring as an aspiring teenage murderess on Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After moving to the United States, Lynskey built a career as a supporting actor in a number of films, both big and small budget including Ever After (1998), Detroit Rock City, But... (both 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000) and Sweet Home Alabama (both 2002), Shattered glass (2003), Flags of Our Fathers (2006) and Away We Go!, Up in the Air!, Leaves of Grass (2009), Win Win (2011), Seeking a Wallflower (both 2014) Then they came Together (2014) and Don't turn your back (2021). Lynskey received a nomination for the Gotham Award as Breakthrough Performer and received acclaim from critics for her performance as an unhappy divorcee in The Goodbye I Must be Going (2012). It was an important moment in her professional career. She is a prominent persona within the American independent film industry thanks to her subsequent performances in Happy Christmas.
