Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara, an American actress and singer from Irish origin was a well-known character. The green-eyed beauty with flaming hair was popular by her passionate and fiery roles in several American films. Her beautiful and glamour was much appreciated and she was known as the "Queen of Technicolor in Hollywood. The characters she played on screen reflected her brave, strong character that fought for her survival and fame in a world dominated by males. She was known as "the tough Irish lass", and she would not be willing to sacrifice respect for other people in order to obtain the roles she was entitled to through merit. She was a vocal advocate for women on television and in films, and gained a lot of followers due to this. Her autobiography, "Tis herself", was published in 2004 and provided an unflinching story of her entire life and the challenges she faced to climb the ladder to success. She was an adventurous person who didn't fear doing her own stunts. She appeared as an actress in over 60 films and was the recipient of a fair amount of fame internationally. After leaving Parra She remarried in 1968 with Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former brigadier, former chief pilot, and an early pioneer in transatlantic air travel, to mention some of the accomplishments. After a few years of their union, O'Hara decided to finally quit her job. The joy she felt was only temporary since Blair passed away in a tragic plane crash in the year 1978. The same year, she was diagnosed with suffering from uterine cancer and required to undergo an immediate operation. She eventually recovered. The following years her health declined and she suffered from six heart attacks, short-term memory loss and diabetes mellitus type 2. On October 24, 2015, O'Hara passed away peacefully in Boise, Idaho, from natural causes at 95.
